Welcome to the Imperial Polk County Astronomical Society website! We are a group of amateur astronomers in Central Florida, dedicated to informing and educating the public about the art and science of astronomy. Come join us at one of our monthly “Astronomy Nights,” located at one of several state and municipal parks here in Polk County.
Once again, we’ll be at the Sun ‘n Fun Expo at the SnF campus April 5-9, 2022 for the second largest air show in the country. We’ll be in front of the museum every day for Solar viewing (weather permitting) and at the Compass Rose at night for celestial viewing (weather permitting). We’ll have information on light pollution and its effects on life on Earth and answer any astronomy questions you have. Come out and let us “Bring the universe to you”.
Every year, Bok Tower celebrates Earth Day. This year, we’ll be there again with our Solar Telescopes to observe the Sun. We’ll be located just outside the Outdoor Kitchen. Come see the Sun with Sunspots, Prominences and Flares. We’ll also tell you all about the Sun and how it affects life on earth.
We “get around” to several different venues and events during the year. We hope to see you at as many of these events as you can come to.
