Our next Astronomy Night will be on June 2, 2018 starting at 7:00 pm, at Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, FL. Now that summer has come ( the rising temperatures anyway), it will be nice to sit in the A/C for our presentation.

So, what will the presentation be about? Well, have you ever wondered what some of the astronomical terms mean? If the Moon is waxing, what is it doing? I waxed my car last week. Is that the same? What's the objective in a telescope? I thought the object was to see stars. And what is parallax? Is that a cousin of parallel? And what about star catalogs? Are they like Sears or JC Penny catalogs? I didn't know you could order a star. Can you order online? Is a singularity half of a dualarity? Or is the polarity (pole arity, get it?) the upright version? I don't understand!

Well, come out on June 2nd and start learning our jargon (the technical terminology or characteristic idiom of a special activity, group, profession, or field of study). We'll explain our language so you'll know what we're talking about. And if you have questions, we'll answer them.

And of course, if the weather is good, we'll have our telescopes ready to look at the night sky up close and personal. so, get ready; make plans to come and prepare for a good time.

Come out and let us bring the universe to you.

    Wishing you clear skies,

    Keep looking up
