Notice: Due to Hurricane Irma, our September Astronomy Night was cancelled. We hope no one suffered too much damage from the storm. We are resuming our regular Astronomy Night schedule in October.  Thank you for your patience.

Everyone is still talking about it. Everyone is still asking questions about it. It, is still the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. That’s right, only now, the talk is about how awesome it was and the big question is, “What was it like”? I considered posting pictures for you to see, but then you wouldn’t hear directly from us what we experienced. So…

Many of our members were in the path of totality from Nebraska to South Carolina. We were there! So, we’re going to answer your questions. We’re going to tell you (and show you) what it was like. On October 14th, beginning at 7:00 pm, rain or shine, at Mackay Garden, we will tell you about the solar eclipse. We’ll tell you what we saw and experienced in the various locations where we were. We’ll show you the pictures we took. We’ll try to convey the excitement, the wonder and the awesomeness of our experiences.

If you were here in central Florida, you saw a partial eclipse of about 85-88%. After seeing it in totality, I can only say, “I’m sorry you couldn’t see it as I did”. But…

So, come on out and let us give you a show from across the country. And If the weather is good, we’ll get our scopes out after the presentation and bring the distant universe closer to us (in appearance that is). So, don’t miss it, you’ll be glad you came.

Until then, Keep looking up.
