There’s more in the sky at Sun ‘n Fun than planes. Whether you want to see the show during the day or at night, don’t limit yourself to planes.

We’ve been there for years. We have pilots from around the world look us up to view the universe through our telescopes. So if you want to see more than planes, come see us. We’ll be in front of the museum from 10 am to 4 pm, looking at the Sun. Then we’ll move our scopes out to the Compass Rose at 7 pm or so to view the wonders of the universe.

So if you like planes, space , or both, come see us at the Sun ‘n Fun Fly-in & Expo April 2nd-6th, and let us bring the universe to you.

Every year, Bok Tower Gardens sponsors a day to educate school kids about the Earth. Whether plants, animals or our climate, vendors are there to give the kids knowledge to help them understand the world we live in.

So, what do we do? We tell them about the adverse effects of light pollution on animals, plants, humans and the Earth’s climate. We also let them take a look at the Sun through our solar telescopes. They love it.

So why the name “Imperial”? That goes back to the early years of our home, Polk County, Florida. At one time, Polk County boasted more paved roads than anywhere else in the southeast U.S., hence the “Imperial” moniker. It was probably more of a P.R. thing than anything else, but the name has stuck. We are still officially known as “Imperial Polk County,” and are proud of our heritage. If you look alongside several of the old roads crossing the county line, you can still see some of the old county line markers that were installed in the 1930’s.
